Referral Process

Do you need support in managing your patients' mental health concerns? Let us help you.

Abbotsford Private Hospital is a voluntary private hospital for people over the age of 16. We specialise in mental health, addictive disorders, and alcohol & drug use.

We work in partnership with General Practitioners and key service providers to treat people suffering with a comprehensive range of mental health concerns.

For assistance with managing your patients’ mental health concerns, please follow our simple five-step admissions process outlined below.

  1. Does your patient need a specialist mental health admission and is not in acute crisis or actively suicidal?
Note: If your patient is in acute crisis or actively suicidal, please contact your local Emergency Department
  2. Does your patient have Private Health Insurance, DVA Status, WorkCover or the ability to self-fund their admission?
Note: Effective 1 April 2018, Australian Government changes to private health insurance coverage for mental health services will take effect.
  3. If yes, call 0430 709 459 to discuss admission suitability with our Admissions and Assessment Team
  4. We will confirm the outcome of your patient’s eligibility check and any applicable out-of-pocket expenses
  5. Same day, we will confirm your patient’s proposed treatment program and coordinate the allocation of a Psychiatrist
Health professionals can refer patients by calling our Admissions and Assessment team on 0430 709 459

Referrals can be faxed 08 9381 7681 or emailed to abbotsford@aurorahealth.com.au

Admissions to Abbotsford Private Hospital must be under the care of one of our treating Psychiatrists. If you need assistance with selecting a Psychiatrist, our Admissions and Assessment team can assist you.
