Dr Stephen Proud is a Consultant Psychiatrist who operates private psychiatric practices in Perth and Bunbury, Western Australia.

Dr Proud has specific interests in General Adult Psychiatry, Addiction psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, Old Age Psychiatry,  spiritual and psychotherapy based psychiatry.

He offers specialised treatment for Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, and Bipolar Disorders. He offers medico Legal assessments.

Dr Proud graduated from the University of Western Australia, Medical School in 1980 (MBBS).  In 1994 he completed a Graduate Diploma in Environmental Science at Murdoch University WA before obtaining his Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) in 1999.

Dr Proud has worked as a GP in India and South Africa.  In 1994 he underwent rural and metropolitan  Western Australia retraining in psychiatry.

He has held key academic positions including Lecturer in Neuroscience and Foundation Director of the Old Age Psychiatry Training Program in WA.  He has been the past supervisor of Psychiatrists in Training WA, Clinical Head of North Metropolitan Old Age Psychiatry WA, and past Clinical Head of WANAD (WA Network of Alcohol and Drug Associations). He is a Member of the Faculty of Addiction Medicine and Member of the Faculty of Addiction Psychiatry.

Dr Proud, with his partners, started up Abbotsford Private Hospital as Western Australia's only dedicated private hospital specialising in dual diagnosis. This was mirrored in the establishment of Blackwood River Clinic, a private, rural day hospital.
